WHY WE ARE DESIGNED THE WAY WE ARE
Have you ever wondered why
God gave us two ears, two eyes but only one mouth? Why are the eyes placed on
the front side of the head and not at the sides or the back? Why did He create
spaces between your fingers and none around the palm region? Why is the brain
placed in a protective structure above every other body parts? Why are the
bones inside not outside? Are they placed just the way they are by chance or
was it due to a Thoughtful Design?
Little mathematics and
logic tell us that two are more than one and two should do more work than one.
God really knew this when He gave us two eyes and two ears but just one mouth.
He expected us to see and hear more but talk less; to see and hear as twice as
we speak or talk because listening is more important than talking. But how
compliant are we in our application of this Design? I know of many men and
women who have reversed the order. They speak even ten times as much as they
see or hear. What an unhealthy and annoying contradiction and modification of
the Master’s design!
Most of what we become in
life lies in front or ahead of us. That is why the eyes were placed in the
front side of the head so that we can focus more attention to what lies ahead
of us than to what lies behind us. As far as life is concerned, the future is
better than the past. But some people are too concerned about the past such
that they are modelled by their past. The fear of the past has stopped many
from discovering and exploiting their full potentialities. But let me remind
such people that until they live according to God’s design, by focusing more on
the future than on the past, they will never live a fulfilled life. Try and let
go of the past, manage the present properly and the future will be taken care
of.
Thunder and lightning occur just at the same time but more
often than not we see the lightning first before hearing the thunder moments
later. In most life situations, we first see things coming before they reach us.
This is so we could put adequate preparation in place before they arrive. That
is exactly how God want it in our daily interactions with others. He expects us
to first visualize the consequences of our actions before taking them. In
communication for instance, we first see the direction that a particular
discussion or a book is going so that we could make informed decisions whether
to allow or stop them from gaining grounds in us. At times I wonder why people
keep listening to evil communications and reading defiling literature even when
they know the end thereof. Why do people go ahead to say things that they know
will hurt somebody’s feelings?
The spaces between our
fingers are to allow irrelevant and trivial matters to sieve through leaving
the important ones inside our palms. They are to help us filter out the
impurities while retaining the required parts. But some of us would rather
choose to hold the unimportant parts by the palms region and the important
parts by the fingers region such that they escape through the spaces. Several
opportunities we have missed are because we were holding them at the fingers
region.
The brain is the main
coordinating centre of the human body. It works round the clock even when you
are asleep. Because of its critical role, God placed it above all other body
parts of the body so that it will be free from pressure that it would have
received if it was placed below other body parts. Take the legs, for instance,
there are situations (in orobos) where the legs cannot carry the excess load
placed on them. People with such condition cannot walk even for a few metres;
they will easily tire out. But the brain is strategically placed such that it
never fails to perform its functions except in extreme cases. The bone is
placed inside your body because if wounded it takes very long to heal. The bone
does not have the ability to quickly regenerate and replace the broken part. In
contrast, the flesh is very dynamic and can easily recreate and replace wounded
or worn out parts. Therefore wounds in the flesh heal faster than wounds in the
bone. So why do some people store emotional wounds in the bone? They keep them
there because they want to sooner or later embark on a revenge mission. As it
takes long for a bone related injury to heal, this presents them with adequate
time to pay people back in their own coins. But is this God’s plan?
The answer is obvious. He
never wanted us to accumulate other people’s offences in our hearts. He expects
us to limit them to the flesh so that they could heal easily leading to
forgiveness. But for some of us, unforgiveness is their lifestyle.
They keep offences until they lead them into falling into the sin of revenging
almost anything.
We need to review the way
we live our daily lives so that we do not contravene God’s plans and designs of
our body parts.
