Biblically, the word rival can be seen in the case of two brothers 'Esau and Jacob' in their tussle for their father’s blessing. It all started when Rebekah over heard Isaac's decision to bless Esau, knowing that her husband was blind, she then schemed to obtain the blessing for Jacob his second son (Genesis 27:8-10, 14-17). When Rebekah told Jacob about his father's decision, he decided to work ahead of his brother. He fetched all what his father wanted and at the end, he was showered with the blessings his father kept for his elder brother Esau.
